Sailing and Social Events

Individual events are listed under the months in the “Social & Sailing Events” sidebar.

The Vice Commodore/Social Chairman organizes a calendar of social, sailing, and work events for the year at the beginning of the sailing season.

Social Events

Social events consist of a variety of activities that are available to all Members and their guests. Club Members are, at times, asked to contribute a pitch-in dish. Examples of some possible events are: Spring Banquet, Steak Grill, Harbor Dance, Memorial Day Breakfast, Raft-Up and Fourth of July Hamburger/Hot Dog Grill. Social events are scheduled approximately once a month during the sailing season.

The Racing & Sailing Chairman organizes a calendar of both competitive and non-competitive racing and sailing events. An event is scheduled for nearly every weekend of the sailing season.

Currently the position of Racing & Sailing Chairman is vacant. If you are interested, speak with the Commodore.

Private Social Events

Club Members may organize private social events at the Club. To prevent scheduling conflicts, Members must coordinate their events through the Vice Commodore.

Hosted Sailing Events and Guests

Hosted event guests are those attending a club hosted event such as a Potter weekend, a Catalina Rendezvous, etc. These are Board-approved events and are posted on the club calendar or the club web site and newsletter if they were scheduled after the annual calendar was established.

The individual(s) responsible for the event, or another designated MSC member, should be at the club for the duration of the event. The guests are expected to leave all facilities in at least as good of condition as they were when they arrived. The guests will coordinate their activities with those of club members to minimize inconvenience of sharing facilities. Any docking is to be approved by the Harbormaster or his nominee or a Board officer in the absence of the Harbormaster.

Work / Dock Day events

Work / Dock Day events generally occur at the beginning and end of the sailing season. Members are encouraged to participate. See “March” and “October” in the sidebar for specific dates.
